Cobalt v122abc Alpha Change Log
July 3rd, 2013, Cobalt, Updates & PatchesUnfortunately v121 had a serious bug in it which causes all downloaded files to be corrupted. This means:
V122 cannot be auto-updated to! You need to download installer (windows mac) ! If you try to update, your cobalt install will be corrupted. Just reinstall! =D
Hello again! This time we have focused mainly on fixing bugs in v121. When taking this long between updates many things get changed and unfortunately some rather bad ones slipped by, the most annoying one being the broken autoupdater in v121. This should now be fixed, along with a bunch of other things!

Hello I want to submit a bug report on my mac that I got while playing cobalt but I don’t know where to do it.
Apparently my mac crashes everytime I try to play the game with a ps3 controller attached to my mac. Could you try that and see if the bug/error reproduces? Thanks
July 3rd, 2013 at 5:09 pm
Hey, I haven’t actually played the game yet, but I figured I should give you a heads up about this. I run Cobalt on Windows 7, 64 bit. The game is failing to load or save any profiles. All of my profiles still exist, in My Documents, but they do not show up in game. So I created a new one, named “teST” in game, to see if they had moved. I could not find a file named that anywhere, and when I restarted the game, the “teST’ profile was gone.

So I tried to download v121 and it wouldn’t work for me and now cobalt website is telling me that v122 will now work but it still isn’t. Help please?
July 3rd, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Thank you for the update but the auto updater crashed the whole cobalt file now i cant use any of it. Can you fix that? and also i have a windows 8 computer
July 3rd, 2013 at 6:56 pm
Exfade: v121 has a bug which made the auto-updater not work. you need to install from installer!

July 3rd, 2013 at 7:17 pm
I just downloaded the most recent Cobalt installer (v122 mentioned above) and it said there was an update available. I clicked “Update Now” and it started updating. However… it got to the SoundCredits.txt and had an error: “Error while downloading update: Unable to parse response”, then the file progress changed to -1%. The total progress was 80%. I don’t think the updating is fixed with this new installer either… I’m using a MacBook Air. OS X 10.8.4
July 3rd, 2013 at 7:30 pm
I mean, I can still click play and it works. Just wondering about this “fake” update. Also, I’m experiencing these glitches where it will freeze, and then my whole computer will reboot. And sometimes the screensaver goes on even while I’m playing. Can you please fix this? Thanks in advance! I’m using a MacBook Air. OS X 10.8.4

is adventure mode and multiplayer supposed to be unavailable to mac?
July 3rd, 2013 at 9:49 pm
I don’t know if it’s still to early, but having adventure mode in a version with as awesome a number as 123 would be amazing. (if you were planning on this, hope i didn’t spoil anything)
July 3rd, 2013 at 10:24 pm
Excellent work! Yay for regular updates! Give credit to team!
Can’t download right now for internet reasons, but with the whole Profiles working, I’m inclined to infer that means statistics are now back – do they merge with the statistics some of us have now gained in v121, or does one overwrite the other, because I’m rather proud of what I have, now.
Keep up the good work!
July 3rd, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Now I am getting an error saying that cobalt is a 16bit program and thus cannot run. I am using windows 8 64 bit. Hope this helps!
July 4th, 2013 at 1:31 am
How do you eject your brain? Also, what is “holster”?
July 4th, 2013 at 3:36 am
Press the interact button (default Up arrow) next to an object which can receive it, ex. an empty metalface or predator body.
Holstering a weapon means ‘putting it away’, so that you aren’t pointing it at friendlies (You sheathing a sword, you holster a gun)
July 4th, 2013 at 4:41 am
Uhh, are you guys sure that the demo bug is fixed? i just clicked for testing, and it crashed, saying “no account, couldn’t get path!”
And yes, i’ve updated the game installing from the installer!
July 4th, 2013 at 4:43 am

I’ve opened the Cobalt.dmg and it comes up with the Cobalt.app and the applications folder I’ve tried opening the app from the screen and it wont open. I’ve dragged it to a different folder and it still wont work. I’ve put it in the applications folder and it still wont work.
Have I done something wrong or did I just waste 276MBs twice?

Savio,You launch the game via the “Play Offline”?

Finally no “Could not play sound…” spam messages, but it still crashes when turning to main menu. Here’s the .dmp file.

Happy Pandy: you need to reinstall from the installer
July 4th, 2013 at 2:26 pm
adventure mode is not yet in.
July 4th, 2013 at 2:27 pm
miniluigi: for a while the wrong mac executable was in the update repos. Can you try and download the game normally again?
July 4th, 2013 at 2:28 pm
Ripia: Maybe =(. There were two problems. 1. v121 updater didnt work, and when we updated to v122b, the wrong mac executable was in the update repos, so some people might have gotten the old v121 executable AGAIN, which means you would have to re add the app from the v122 dmg and update again if you still have that downloaded.
July 4th, 2013 at 2:29 pm
Corrupt: thanks for that feedback! should be fixed now.
July 4th, 2013 at 2:29 pm
What ps3 controller driver are you using? So we can try this ourselves.
July 4th, 2013 at 4:26 pm
Downloading again did fix the “fake” update, but I’m still experiencing some crashes. I posted the error screens on my website here: http://tinyurl.com/oju7e7b … along with some descriptions of the problems.
July 4th, 2013 at 4:29 pm
miniluigi008: can you send me the full resolutions ones, also, send me the map? info@oxeyegames.com
July 4th, 2013 at 5:07 pm
I was wondering if there was any way to change just the controller controls? Because the last time I played multiplayer with my friend, we used a PS3 controller and the controls for it kinda sucked. (No offence) So is there any way to change just them.
July 4th, 2013 at 10:26 pm
my game crashes at random times and closes at random times. wats wrong with my game or is it i downloaded it rong or is it a bug
July 5th, 2013 at 2:09 am
I’ve replaced the old Cobalt app again from the same dmg and it still doesn’t work. I’ve just downloaded the dmg again and dragged Cobalt to my applications folder and it still does not work.
July 5th, 2013 at 8:01 am
Why hack device hacks Trunknan’s, they are not robots, they are plants and inhabitants Truncopia?
July 5th, 2013 at 9:33 am
DerkMorris: good point. It is likely a bug. It is supposed to only work on electric actors.
July 5th, 2013 at 9:47 am
qwerty602: What version are you running? Should say in the launcher and in the upper right corner of the game.
Look in my documents/Cobalt. Send me any error screensshots and log.txt to errors@oxeyegames.com
July 5th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
Found a bug at the bird temple survival map in 122c version !
Everything starts out fine but as the time passes every mob(birds, mushrooms, metal-faces) turns orange like it is receiving fire damage ! Despite that i have not spotted any other malfunction in the game as far as I am concerned so GREAT JOB people !
July 5th, 2013 at 2:51 pm
I’ve just downloaded the new c version and still does not work at all. I see other people have gotten it to work so it might be either the mac version doesn’t work or theres a problem with my computer.
July 5th, 2013 at 5:37 pm
I just wanted to point out that many of the default maps (Oasis for example) do not have the proper shield belt + battery combo, meaning that even though you can pick up a battery, it does not load onto the character. I imagine this is simply the result of leaving the original settings after switching over to the new shields. Not a huge issue, but should probably be addressed since its an easy fix.
July 5th, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Michalios13: On the map “Bird Temple” is a high temperature, this is not a bug, temperature not fatal.
July 5th, 2013 at 7:26 pm
I got Cobalt in v121 and I play on a PC with Windows 7. Everything worked fine for me until 122c. Now, the game crashes when I open the login screen. Please help, this game was awesome
July 6th, 2013 at 2:08 am
I can confirm that on Mac these new versions do not work. v120 and 121 for Mac worked, but v122 doesn’t work
July 6th, 2013 at 2:22 am
Kevin Johnson: Maybe it has to do with files that were generated in previous versions? It works for me.
July 6th, 2013 at 11:00 am
Kevin Johnson : Oh OK then Thanks for the tip !
July 6th, 2013 at 4:57 pm
@miniluigi008 I don’t think so. I deleted/redownloaded the launcher and it crashes immediately. I suppose Cobalt could be storing some files in some other folder. I think I can also conjure up some crash reports.
July 7th, 2013 at 9:14 am
Level editor crashes my com.
July 7th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
I think I fixed my computer-crashing issue while playing Cobalt! It turned out to be my PRAM; so I reset it. Everything seems to be running smoothly now, except for the occasional cobalt-crash (I already sent you the screenshots.) Now that my computer doesn’t crash, Cobalt is so much more enjoyable! Thanks for making such an awesome game and please keep improving it and adding new things! And if you don’t mind me asking, how do you create actor spawners in the level editor? I see them but I don’t see an option for what actor to spawn or at what interval.

July 10th, 2013 at 2:13 am
I sent a report to info@oxeyegames.com from my Console… was it received?

Whenever I try to go to the editor the game crashes, what should I do?
July 24th, 2013 at 11:11 am
Great support! Nice frequent updates.
And a great game =]
July 25th, 2013 at 11:30 pm
Heya Guys!
I don’t mean to hammer on about updates, but v121 was supposed to mark the return of regular updates, and we are a few weeks out, now… All I’m asking for is news or something along those lines; what new and exciting things are happening, hm?
July 26th, 2013 at 9:48 am
Hello,I using mac10.6.8.
I pre-ordered cobalt. But it won’t work on my mac.
Help me!!
same requirements!!: http://www.cobaltforum.net/topic/2449-mac-requirements/
July 29th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
I am also wondering about the updates because right now it doesn’t work for my mac and i would like to buy it cheap before it gets to be more. Is the new update going to be relatively soon and will it have the Mac 10.6 fix? Thanks
August 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 am
Running Windows 7, 64 bit.
Upon booting Cobalt (122c), the screen turns black.
This stays until clicking, which turns the screen white, followed by a crash with no crash report / dump file etc.
August 3rd, 2013 at 7:57 pm
Can we at least get a link to a working mac version? I’m pretty sure either v122a or v121 worked for me.
August 11th, 2013 at 3:05 pm
At least verify that you’re still around and working. This worries me that all development on Cobalt has been quit because I haven’t seen any updates on twitter or on http://www.playcobalt.com, or even on the status of the updates. This kind of “blackout” behavior where you disconnect from the world seems unprofessional. I know you are small and independent, but what makes you great is the quality of the games you make. Not posting on social media is not classy.
August 12th, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Miniluigi008, I have also contacted Oxeye through info@oxeyegames.com at least 2 weeks ago and no replies. I too am worried that they have terminated progress on this game…
August 12th, 2013 at 11:31 pm
I spoke to thewreck the other day, and he gave me some pointers on using the editor. I’m assuming there’s still progress happening, or why would he bother?
We’ve had longer breaks than this in between updates, though I’m not sure if there’s been longer breaks without a heads up from the devs but I’d say so.
I wouldn’t just assume all work has stopped.
One, hope and faith is always a good thing to have, and personally, I don’t want to see this wonderful game do down the sink.
I imagine there’s been enough pre-orders, so I wouldn’t say money is a problem and they’ve gained from other games. I reckon there’s just been a snag in production, something particularly difficult, and full attention has been given to that.
Hope and faith guys. I’m sure that a game with such a positive reception wouldn’t just go away like this.
August 13th, 2013 at 1:12 pm
I thought you wanted to make updates more frequnetly?
August 21st, 2013 at 2:11 am
I had no idea Cobalt was going to be at gamescom. Does this mean cobalt is coming to Xbox one, I mean because of the logo at the end of the video?

September 8th, 2013 at 7:17 am
What about pushing an update ? How that sounds ? The community has been patient for a long time now, do you think this is going to last for long ?
September 15th, 2013 at 10:07 am
Where are all the updates for cobalt?
You promised us single-multi player campaign
September 15th, 2013 at 11:46 pm
On its way, mate. Making games is hard.
September 21st, 2013 at 10:32 pm
I hope there’s something big for the PC/Mac versions if it’s taking this long for an update… and I hope it is much more stable.
September 21st, 2013 at 11:29 pm
It most certainly is. They are finishing up adventure for (at least) a playable version, as well as all the associated editors. Patience, young padawan.
September 22nd, 2013 at 12:11 am
Hello. Sorry but I am not a Cobalt expert. Are the last four gametypes (Co-op, adverture, etc.) not yet implemented, or only avaliable in Online mode? And does online bode affect anything at the moment, considering (with Xbox controllers and the USB wireless dongle) you can have up to four players?
When you respond, please ‘reply’ to me so I get emailed. Even if I don’t I’ll come back and check in a few minutes.
Also, if any of you Cobalt game designers are reading this, I would like to say two things;
1. Thank you very much!
2. We all appreciate your work!
September 22nd, 2013 at 12:16 am
Ops. I forgot to mention that I haven’t updated Cobalt in like a year.
October 6th, 2013 at 6:48 pm
Whens the next update? ;3
November 3rd, 2013 at 1:26 pm
Will you update this game?
I paid for it, and I see only Scrolls and Minecraft being updated, and Cobalt is at 1.2.2c ALPHA from July, 4 months!
December 9th, 2013 at 11:07 pm
Even in it’s unfinished state, this game is completely awesome! I can’t wait for adventure mode, because it has a ton of potential.
December 15th, 2013 at 6:51 pm
Heeey!!!!!
Is anybody here?

Guys, how do I fix this error! ” C:\Program Files\Oxeye Games\Cobalt\XINPUT1_3.dll is either not designed to run on Window or it contains an error. when I try to open cobalt it just comes up with a blank screen and I don’t know wether it’s just my mac or it’s just a temporary thing that will be fixed could you tell me how I could fix it?
May 30th, 2015 at 12:01 am
Hi guys, I have noticed that with my controller (I don’t know what model) the input is mixed up. Whenever I press A it goes back and when I press B there is no response.
May 30th, 2015 at 12:22 pm
Hey there, try getting into the controls menu and selecting the appropiate button preset for your controller.
I don’t really know how to solve it, so tell me if it works. I’ll pass the word otherwise.
Also, you’re posting on a quite old post… am I replying to a cleverly diguised spambot?
November 12th, 2016 at 11:02 am
please i have a problem i installed the game very well but when i want to launch the story mode they tell me that the file is missing can you help me
November 15th, 2016 at 11:20 pm
Hello, which file? I suggest you check the game’s cache integrity on steam or reinstall the game.
